FAQs

No. Private patients do not need a referral from a doctor to see us! All Spine & Sports Physiotherapists are Primary Health Practitioners who are experts in the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal injuries and neurological conditions.

Yes. However, if you are involved in a Workers Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claim you will need a Doctor’s referral and provide us with your Claim Number from your Insurance Company before attending your Initial Assessment.

A comprehensive assessment where a detailed history of your problem with be taken, including any previous episodes that you may have had, in addition to relevant health and lifestyle questions.

Following this history taking, a physical assessment will be made to determine the clinical diagnosis of your pain or injury. During this time, you may be asked to partly undress so that the physiotherapist can examine the problem and surrounding areas more accurately (please see: what should I wear to my physiotherapy session). Patients are always welcome to bring a chaperone if they wish.

Following the assessment where a clinical diagnosis is determined, a “Management Plan” will be discussed with you outlining your treatment program and how many sessions we estimate it will take to get you back to enjoying life free of pain or injury.

This depends upon the injury as well as the individual. Each treatment plan is specifically tailored and an estimate of how many sessions you may need will be determined following the Initial Assessment. Your progress will be regularly checked throughout the course of your treatment to ensure excellent progress is being made at all times.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your Initial Assessment to check-in.

You will be emailed a link to access our online patient registration form.  If you have not completed this form online, please arrive at least 10mins early to complete this form.

All of the experts at Spine & Sports Physiotherapy endeavor to run on time and any delay or late arrival will unfortunately reduce your treatment time and may impact on the recovery process.

Physiotherapy assessment and treatment generally requires access to the area of concern so please wear loose, comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. If you wish to bring a change of clothes, a T-shirt (or a singlet for neck and shoulder problems) and shorts are advisable. If your injury involves running, please bring your running shoes.

  • If you are referred from a Doctor or Specialist, please bring the referral letter.
  • Any X-rays, CT-Scans or MRI-Scans and their reports relevant to your injury.
  • A list of your current medications.
  • Private Health Insurance card for an instant rebate, saving you a trip to the health fund.
  • Also, please bring your diary so you can schedule appointments in advance to get the most convenient times for you.

Yes, and on-the-spot!!!

All services provided at Spine & Sports Physiotherapy are covered under private health insurance.

Please bring your health fund card to your consultation and using our HICAPS system we can swipe your card for an instant transfer of your rebate, saving you a trip to the health fund.

Depending on your individual provider and level of cover, you will then simply need to pay the gap fee.

Private patients need to settle their accounts at the end of each treatment session. Spine & Sports Physiotherapy accepts EFTPOS, Visa/Mastercard, and cash as forms of payment.

Unfortunately, we do not accept American Express.

Insurance claims are billed directly to the insurer provided all of the necessary documentation is completed. If a gap-fee is required, this can be paid by any of the previously outlined methods.

Missed appointments are an inconvenience to the clinic and our other patients (we have a long list of people waiting to get an appointment at all times), and generally means that you will require more treatment to recover.

If rescheduling an appointment, 24 hours’ notice is required otherwise a cancellation fee equal to the consultation price will be charged.

People who repeatedly miss or reschedule appointments will regretfully be discharged from care.

If you’re asking yourself this question, then let us be the ones to answer it for you.
