Daniel grew up in Bunbury going to Withers Primary School, Adam Road and Newton Moore Senior High School before moving north to finish high school in Perth. He then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science (Exercise & Sports Science) degree at ECU Joondalup and a Master of Physiotherapy degree from Curtin University.
After finishing his Physiotherapy degree in 2009 and working for two years in a prominent private practice in Perth, Daniel followed his English girlfriend to the UK. He worked extensively over England for nearly 6 years, both privately and in the NHS, which has provided him a wealth of knowledge and experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and sports injury rehabilitation. He has recently returned to Australia with his English girlfriend (now wife) to start Spine & Sports Physiotherapy.
Daniel has also worked extensively with amateur and professional athletes from a variety of sports including; hockey, soccer, AFL and basketball. He has national experience with WA Hockey teams and travelled with the Australian Women’s Indoor Hockey team as the physiotherapist when competing in an international tournament in Malaysia 2010.
Daniel enjoys helping people recover quickly from injuries and stay pain free so they can live healthy and active lives. He uses manual “hands-on” therapy combined with advanced manipulative (adjustment) techniques and acupuncture to decrease pain, while incorporating rehabilitative exercises and education to ensure a complete recovery and prevent reinjury.
Leila Van Zuydam

Leila grew up in Harare, Zimbabwe. Her desire to explore and learn took her to the USA where she fast tracked and double majored gaining her two Associates Degrees.
While she enjoyed her major of Food and Nutrition, Leila wanted to be more involved with her patients’ care and have a more positive impact on their treatment program. So, she decided to explore a new country and change major to study Physiotherapy in Hungary. She has now found her passion and is excited to treat patients here at Spine and Sports Physiotherapy. Leila takes great interest in her patients and looks forward to being a part of their journey to recovery and living pain free.
In addition to her degree in physiotherapy Leila is also certified in Dynamic Taping and Dry Needling.
While not in the clinic Leila leads an active lifestyle, has a love for baking and photography, and exploring with friends and family.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy
Tom grew up in the Bunbury area, attending secondary school at Bunbury Catholic College. He discovered a passion for physiotherapy at a young age, through his involvement in football, basketball, and tennis. After completing his studies at Notre Dame University in Fremantle, Tom has returned to the South-West with a desire to assist people in achieving their highest possible level of function.
In his spare time, Tom loves to get involved with various sports, go camping with friends and explore his musical interests.
Tom is very excited to begin working at Spine and Sports Physiotherapy, and can’t wait to help people overcome injury and return to what they love doing.
Remedial Massage Therapist
Tan is our newest member joining the Spine & Sports Physiotherapy team in July 2019. You will see Tan in the practice every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.
Tan brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to all things massage and will be working closely with the physiotherapists to help patients get back to their active and healthy lives.
Tan has been a massage therapist for over 5 years and completed his Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy over 2 years ago, which means he has specific training in sports massage, relaxation, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, pregnancy massage and reflexology. He will soon be undertaking a dry needling course and will be able to incorporate this into his treatment options to help you get better faster.
As Tan is a Remedial Massage Therapist, you are eligible for a private health insurance rebate on all his sessions (depending on your specific cover).
When Tan is not at the practice he enjoys spending time with his partner, relaxing, hiking and loves exploring what the South-West has to offer. Tan is excited for his future and is always looking for new ways/techniques to develop his skills and progress his career.
Meet the Team
Meagan joined the Spine & Sports Physio Team back in May 2018. Meagan took on a part time role within the company working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays. Previously Meagan was in the Beauty Industry doing a wide variety of roles including Beauty Therapy/ Reception/ Management and is enjoying the career change so far.
When Meagan is not working she is spending time with her family. One of the most important thing to Meagan is her family and friends. Meagan also enjoys keeping fit, yoga, meditation and being outdoors.
Meagan is excited for her future and being a part of a growing team at Spine & Sports Physiotherapy.
Michelle commenced her part time employment at Spine & Sports Physiotherapy in Nov 2018. She started as an Admin Assistant and is now the teams Admin Manager.
Michelle loves meeting new people and has a varied background in Practice Management, Treatment Coordinator & Sales. She credits these past positions to whom is she today. Michelle is the friendly voice, who will assist you to ensure your experience at Spine & Sports Physiotherapy is one to remember.
When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, exercising & catching up with friends. Michelle is completing her Cert III & Cert IV in Fitness so she can continue to help and support people to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle outside of work.
Shannen was welcomed to the Spine & Sports Physiotherapy team in February 2020 and you will see her at the front desk every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
Shannen has had several years of experience in customer service and has completed a media degree at ECU. She likes all things creative and enjoys creating social media content for the Spine & Spine Physiotherapy web pages. She is also passionate about exercise, well-being and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
When she isn’t working, she is usually socializing. Shannen is a friendly, people-person who enjoys interacting with patients of all ages. She is there to assist you with any questions or concerns and will go the extra mile to make your visit a pleasant one.
Brooke is the newest admin assistant at Spine and Sports Physiotherapy. You will see her friendly face at the front desk every Monday & Thursday evening.
Brooke is very passionate about sport and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This role allows her the chance to meet new people and see them progress through their recovery.
When she’s not working, she is usually spending time training for her chosen sport which is Modern Pentathlon – a comprise of running, swimming, fencing, shooting and horse riding. She also really enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets.
